Many years ago I bought a used silver Perl export drum kit really cheap. It sat in my basement mostly unused some friends and I put together a cover band and Will played it when he became our drummer. He added a cheap piccolo snare to the set, which was the best thing that ever happened to it. The entire time I owned it I never changed the heads, which were mostly shot when I bought it. Not long after that band fell apart, my wife I decided to downsize and move, and the kit was donated to a local music school.
Sometime in the middle of this, though, I thought to record samples of this kit – including the piccolo snare – and create a Hydrogen kit out of it. The physical kit is long gone, but it’s memory lives on.
